Roku Express 4K and Roku Streaming Stick 4K are the most popular streaming sticks from Roku, but they have some key differences you need to know that may impact your decision on which one to purchase.
TL;DR Roku Streaming Stick offers a better experience overall and is worth the few extra bucks.
Key Feature | Roku Express 4K | Roku Streaming Stick 4K |
Max Resolution | 4K60fps | 4K60fps |
HDR Format | HDR10/10+, HLG | HDR10/10+, HLG, Dolby Vision |

As you can see, both models have a lot in common; with similar hardware, you can expect about the same performance.
Either way, those are both budget-friendly options and great choices for not tech-savvy users who just want something that works. The Roku experience is consistent across their device, and those 2 make no exception with a straightforward streaming experience without breaking the bank.
The key differences for the Roku Express are the lack of Dolby Vision, slightly worse Wi-Fi, a quirky design, and a lower price. As I mentioned in my Roku Express 4K review, I don’t believe the Express is worth it compared to the Streaming Stick and I would pay the extra $10 for better Wi-Fi and Dolby Vision support.
Unless you’re loyal to Roku, check out the Google Chromecast 4K, which is the best streaming stick, in my opinion, because of its versatility.
